Student Services Advisory Board
is a group of students in Caņon City High School that do community
service and initiate programs that will benefit Fremont County. They
raise $500 at the beginning of the year and the El Pomar Youth in
Community Service (EPYCS) will match that $500 with $9,500. The
mission of S.S.A.B. is to use these funds to support the community in the
areas of recreation, human services, and education. Non-profit
organizations apply to S.S.A.B. to obtain grants. This year a few of
the grants given were a $2,000 grant to Loaves & Fishes, a $1,500
grant to the Fremont Rehab Center, and a $2,500 grant to the school
district. The other area the the S.S.A.B. members participate in is
Youth Council. The members attend a director's meeting concerning
youth council and the also attend the State Conference. The members
of S.S.A.B. commit their time to make our community a better place.
