School-based mentoring is a way to provide caring people in the lives of
children.
- It
is a strategy to encourage children to develop their vision for the future.
CAMP
(Colorado's Adolescent Mentoring Program) is
a one-on-one relationship between a mentor and a child that takes place on
school property for one hour per week. The target population for this mentoring
program is kids involved in the juvenile justice system.
There
is a matching process that takes place, which centers on common interests, gender,
cultural backgrounds, and tutoring
needs.
School
Districts are on board and supporting of the program and there are liaisons
selected at each school to greet mentors and provide information and guidance
for the mentors.
